New East Coast Class: Build a Comb-Back Stick Chair
I join the roster at Peter Galbert's Maine workshop.
I’m teaching a class in making one of my comb-back stick chairs on May 18-22, 2026, at Peter Galbert’s workshop in Berwick, Maine. Registration for my class (and others) opens at 8 a.m. on Aug. 1. Details on registration are here.
Peter has always been supportive of my work, despite the fact that our chairs and woodworking methods are different. What we share is a desire to open the door for others to enter the craft.
In fact, Pete was the first person to ever call me a “chairmaker” while we were at a Lie-Nielsen event. The word hit me like a brick. And I thought: Yeah, I guess I am.
Peter has been running classes at his newly restored Maine workshop, and I was honored to be asked to teach there (just check out the roster of teachers).
Other Classes
Because we can’t hold classes in our Covington workshop next year, I’m traveling to teach a few places in 2026. As of now, I’m scheduled to teach two classes at Dictum in Germany next summer. And I have agreed to teach at two other schools. As soon as details are available, I’ll post them here.
Where and when will the Midwest class be?
Why can’t you teach classes in Covington? Over-booked?
