Side note. I’ve spent the day quarter sawing sycamore for seat bottoms. Would you leave the lumber long to air dry, or cut it into shorter lengths?

When I cut seat blanks, I usually cut them to 2' or 4' lengths. They dry faster than 8' of 10's.

I’m dull. Please clarify “hound-like”.

I simply mean they were animal-like.

Some people will think you are kidding about the Alien on a Swing. You are not.

Chris, some time after the 1997 FWW article by JB came out (and I was also hooked), I remember meeting you at a woodworking show (back when those were about the only “thing”) in Springfield MA, and for some reason we talked chairs and JB’s name came up. Long story short, the next week, the mail brought a large envelope from you with all of JB’s photocopied articles in it. I still have them, too, some of which were reprinted in Chris Williams’ excellent book. What a journey it has been, thanks.

It always amazes me that I met Jessamyn in an online community that developed during Covid and she turned out to be your cousin. Her partner, Jim, and I also have a weird connection. We're both bass players who were adopted and met our birth-fathers later in life and they both turned out to be bass players in seminal San Francisco bands. His was in The Dead Kennedys and mine was in The Great Society. Jessamyn was kind enough to use her special powers at Wikipedia to create a page about my father.
