Note: This is one of my occasional posts for paid subscribers only about the inner workings of Lost Art Press.

“Build a Chair from Bulls%$t” was supposed to be released two weeks ago. But right now the press run is sitting in three separate pieces on a loading dock: the book blocks, the finished covers and the printed endsheets.

Our printer is too busy to bind the book. So the job has to go out of house – somewhere – to get bound. Once bound, it will get shipped to us. But when will this happen? We don’t know.

This is a typical delay when making something as complex as a book. It started when the cover cloth I selected for the book (Brillianta 4009, aka Baby Poop Brown) was delayed slightly in transit.

Because the cloth was late, the book covers didn’t get made on time. So the book didn’t make its date with the bindery. The schedule fell apart.

“Build a Chair from Bulls%$t” was supposed to be our release for Spring. But now we have nothing new to sell, and I’m watching our daily sales numb…
